ST JAMES, Jamaica — A quiet evening in Montpelier was shattered by gunfire Wednesday night, leaving a community in mourning as police launch a probe into the brutal double murder of a teacher and a taxi operator along Guinep Tree Lane.
The victims have been identified as 32-year-old Vanessa Williams, a beloved educator, and 36-year-old Matthew Chin, a taxi driver, both residents of the area.

According to police reports, at approximately 10:12 p.m., residents heard a series of explosions and contacted the authorities. Upon arrival, lawmen discovered Chin slumped over the steering wheel of a Toyota Voxy motorcar. Williams was found face down beside the vehicle. Both had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency services rushed the pair to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Investigations are ongoing as detectives work to determine the motive behind the killings. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
