ST MARY, Jamaica — The body of a 59-year-old teacher, Angella Hamilton, was discovered Sunday morning at her St Mary home with her throat slashed and a stab wound to her chest.
Hamilton, who taught at Pear Tree Grove Primary and Infant School, was last seen alive on Friday around 4:30 pm when she left work. Concerns arose when calls to her phone went unanswered, prompting a friend to visit her home on Saturday afternoon.
The friend, arriving around 3:00 pm, found the front door ajar and Hamilton’s lifeless body on the floor inside the house. Police were subsequently alerted, and her body was removed from the scene.
The motive for the killing remains unclear. Investigators from the St Mary Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) are leading the probe.
Hamilton’s death has left the school community and residents of Pear Tree Grove in shock. Colleagues described her as a dedicated and kind-hearted teacher who was well-respected by students and staff alike.
Authorities are appealing to anyone with information to come forward as they work to uncover the circumstances surrounding her tragic death.
