Jamaica News: 21-year-old Shalise Sterling, who is currently a student at the University of Technology (UTech) is aimed at becoming a dental technician.
This determined young female is now faced with financial strains and her future aim to be a dental technician is now swaying in the wind.
Shalise says, she is now in her third year at college and the going has been very rough. He father has not been a part of her life and her mom who pushed her this far is not presently working.
In short, Shalise has now fallen on tough times, she is now in her second year and is now faced with a mountain of troubles to come up with $293,000, in order to sustain her stay in college.
She has also been relying on a female family friend, who assisted her through her first year. But she recently fell ill and her dependence on the woman came to a standstill.
Shalise stated that her mother was also forced to borrow money from the Credit Union and she is now focused on that present loan.
She applied for Student Loan, but was denied on the grounds that she has no one to stand as a guarantor.
With so many obstacles in her way, she has now decided to turn to members of the public for help.
