Jamaica Crime News, St Thomas: The police in Bath district in St Thomas say they have now launched a manhunt for a man who they say is behind a $10 million fire which destroyed a five-bedroom house in the area on Sunday morning.

The police have not yet released the name of the accused man.

Reports are that about 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, the accused and another man who occupied the five-bedroom concrete and board dwelling house in Ginger Hall got involved in an argument.

During the argument, the accused reportedly threatened the other man that he was going to set his room on fire.  He reportedly ran inside the complainant’s room and set his mattress on fire.

The fire swiftly spread and engulfed the house which was also occupied by other families.  The Fire Department was called and upon arrival, the firemen could only carry out cooling down operations because the house and all its contents were completely destroyed.

Damages are estimated in the regions of over $10 million dollars.  In the meanwhile, the police have now launched a search for the accused who have fled the scene after he set the house ablaze.
