Motorcycle Gunmen being Sought by Police in Westmoreland

Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland: The police in Negril, Westmoreland, are now carrying out a search of the parish for two men who travel by motorcycle and who challenged the police in a heated gun battle on Sunday morning, before escaping in the said motorcycle in the area.

According to the police, shortly after 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 1, a team of officers were carrying out regular patrols along sections of the Namprell main road when they saw two men travelling on a motorcycle.

The rider was signaled to stop but instead of complying, both men brandished handguns and opened fire at the lawmen.  The police took evasive actions and returned the fire, during what time, the gunmen managed to escape on the motorcycle.

Our news team has also been informed that a team attached to the Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) is now carrying out investigations into the incident.
