A 23-year-old farmer from St. Thomas, Jermaine Davis, is facing gun charges after he was caught with what turned out to be an imitation firearm.
Davis, who resides at a White Hall address in the parish, was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.
According to reports from the Morant Bay police, on Tuesday, October 29. A patrol team on duty noticed Davis standing on the roadway. Upon seeing the police approaching, he allegedly threw a black object to the ground in an attempt to dispose of it. Officers quickly apprehended Davis, and upon inspection, the object was determined to be a fake firearm.
Davis was subsequently arrested and is now awaiting his court date, which is currently being arranged. Authorities continue to stress the importance of firearms safety and the legal ramifications of possessing imitation weapons in Jamaica.
