A St Mary woman and her relative have been charged after she allegedly received more than $3 million in her bank account in error and transferred portions of the funds to several people.
They are 40-year-old Moneague Campbell of Salt-Cut, Boscobel, and her relative, Orane Campbell, who lives in the same community. Both face charges of simple larceny, possession of criminal property and engaging in a transaction involving criminal property.
According to police, the money was mistakenly deposited into Moneague’s account in March 2026. She allegedly distributed portions of the funds to several individuals, including Orane.
Investigators say Moneague became unreachable following a conversation with the bank, and her whereabouts were unknown. The matter was reported to police, and she was subsequently featured in the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Wanted Wednesday campaign.
Police say Orane was apprehended during a targeted operation, while Moneague turned herself in on Tuesday, October 27.
Both were charged following interviews with investigators. Their court date is being finalised.
