Lawmen from the St. Mary Police Division successfully apprehended a prisoner who had escaped from custody at the Oracabessa Police Lock Up on Thursday, December 21, 2023.
The fugitive, identified as 26-year-old Phillip Williams, also known as ‘Boe’, from Belfield, St. Mary, was facing charges of Shooting with Intent. He, along with six other prisoners, utilized a hacksaw blade to create an opening in the metal ventilation system of the Lock Up and flee around 6:00 a.m.
On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., a targeted operation was conducted in the Guava Road area of Belfield, St. Mary. Williams was discovered sleeping beneath a house during this operation. He was promptly recaptured, and taken into custody.
The police are reminding citizens that it is an offence to harbour a fugitive, and persons with information that can assist in locating them are being encouraged to contact the Oracabessa Police at 876-726-0698, Crime Stop at 311, the JCF tip line at 811, or the nearest police station.
