Police in St Mary have launched an investigation into a fatal incident in which a man died after a tree reportedly fell on him in the Belfield area on Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old labourer Kalphat Hugo, a resident of Belfield in the parish.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. when Hugo was struck by the falling tree and suffered serious injuries. He was transported to Port Maria Hospital for treatment but later died while receiving medical care.
Investigators assigned to the Belfield Police Station are continuing inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
