The St. James police have launched an investigation into an incident involving a car fire and a subsequent murder in the Lilliput community, aiming to determine if there is any connection between the two events.
The unsettling sequence of events unfolded on Thursday night around 7:00 pm. In the first incident, a Nissan AD Wagon, reportedly part of the campaign machinery for People’s National Party councillor candidate Jason Cummings, was set ablaze. Shortly afterward, tragedy struck when 44-year-old Kenroy Doeman, known as ‘Shrimpy’, was shot and killed in the same community.
A senior police officer stated that they are actively examining the incidents to establish any potential links between them. Eyewitness reports indicate that the Nissan AD Wagon, parked along the roadway, was seen engulfed in flames shortly after 7:00 pm.
Upon receiving reports of the fire, the fire brigade promptly responded, with a team from the Ironshore station arriving at the scene to extinguish the blaze.
As investigations continue, residents of the Lilliput community are left reeling with uncertainty and concern. Law enforcement officials have assured the public that every effort is being made to uncover the truth behind these distressing events and bring those responsible to justice.
