Jamaica Crime News, St James: A common-law couple who resides at Bogue Village in Montego Bay, St James were arrested by the St. Ann police on Saturday afternoon, following an incident where their 3-year-old daughter died at the St. Ann’s Bay Hospital, from what appeared to be physical bruises inflicted to her body.
The police have reported that the 3-year-old child has been identified as Athena Forbes also of Bogue Village in Montego Bay, St. James, but they were unable to release the names of the parents.
Reports by the St. Ann police are that shortly after 7:00 p.m., on Saturday, both parent and their 3-year-old daughter were travelling to Portland to visit other family members.
While travelling through the parish of St Ann, they stopped at the St Ann’s Bay Hospital and informed the medical staff that their child has taken ill.
It is further reported that the doctors were in the process of rendering medical assistance to the child when they detected what appeared to be bruises on her body. The child died while receiving medical attention.
The police were immediately called in by the doctors at the hospital and both parent were questioned, and later arrested.
