Jamaica News, March 23, 2018 – Fire Leaves Granville Family Homeless
St James, Jamaica(McKoy’s News) – A St James family of four was left homeless on Thursday morning, March 22, after a fire of unknown origin completely destroyed their ten apartment dwelling house.
Reports by the Granville police are that, shortly after 5:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, residents living at a section of the Granville community known as Chambers Drive alerted the fire department, after seeing fire coming from a section of the house.
Two units from the Freeport and Ironshore Fire Department responded to the call. Upon arrival at the location, the ten apartment house which was constructed with building blocks and zinc roofing was being engulfed by the flames.
The firemen could only manage to carry out cooling down operation as the house and all its contents were completely destroyed.
The family of four who occupied the premises were rescued from the burning inferno by neighbors.
The Fire Department investigators told our news team that they are still trying to determine the cause of the fire and also they have not yet come up with an estimate in damages.
