A St. Elizabeth man, who was arrested along with four others in connection with the seizure of 21 illegal guns and a large quantity of ammunition at a wharf in Kingston on March 4, 2022, has been freed of charges.
The accused, 51-year-old Godfrey Martin, otherwise called ‘Rev’, was freed of Conspiracy to Illegally Import Firearms and Ammunition when he appeared before the Gun Court Division of the Supreme Court on Friday.
His attorneys, Jacqueline Samuels Brown and Everton Dewar, submitted a no-case submission, which resulted in the presiding judge agreeing that there was no evidence for him to answer to.
Reports indicate that Martin and the four other men were arrested by a team from the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Branch during a sting operation on August 7, 2022, following the seizure of 18 handguns, three rifles, and a large shipment of assorted rounds.
