Jamaica News, March 7, 2018 – St Elizabeth Farmer Caught with Ganja
St Elizabeth, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – A St Elizabeth farmer was on Sunday arrested and charged for Breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act after ganja weighing over 150 lbs were found on a boat which he was sailing.
The accused farmer has been identified as 59-year-old James Dunkley of Slipe District also in St Elizabeth.
He has since been charged with dealing in and possession of ganja.
Reports are that shortly after 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, police officers attached to the St Elizabeth Marine Division were on patrol along a section of the river when they saw a boat.
It is further reported that the boat which was being driven by Dunkley was ordered to stop. The police boarded the vessel and following a search, they discovered ganja weighing approximately 159 pounds hidden under a tarpaulin.
The lawmen stated that the accused was arrested and the drugs which is estimated at a street value of over $634,000 was seized.
The accused is booked to appear in the St Elizabeth Parish Court sometimes this week.
