St. Catherine Robbers Sentenced to 21 Months in Prison for $4-Million Robbery

St Catherine, Jamaica News: St. Catherine Robbers Sentenced – Three St. Catherine men who pleaded guilty to breaking into a store in Linstead, St. Catherine, on November 22 of last year and stealing items valued at over $4 million were sentenced to a total of 21 months in prison when they appeared before the St. Catherine Parish Court on Monday.

The accused men—36-year-old Jason Matthews, unemployed; 31-year-old Kemar Foster, a bus conductor; and 45-year-old Junior Morris, a bus driver, all of St. Catherine addresses—had earlier pleaded guilty in court, resulting in the judge being lenient.

Morris was sentenced to 5 months and 28 days, while Matthews and Foster were each sentenced to 8 months and 28 days.

Reports indicate that around 3:30 a.m., all three men broke into the store in Linstead and stole a large quantity of shoes and clothing valued at over $4 million.

The police were alerted to the robbery and intercepted the vehicle along the North-South Highway, traveling towards St. Ann, where the men engaged the police in a shootout.

The fire was returned, and two of the men were shot. They ran from the vehicle, still firing at the police. One of them was apprehended, and the stolen items were recovered.

The other two, who escaped into the bushes, were later apprehended.
