Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) are grieving the loss of a fellow officer following the death of Sergeant Leline Golding on Thursday afternoon.
Golding, who served at the Spanish Town Police Station within the St Catherine North Division, died at the Spanish Town Hospital after battling health complications.
Reports indicate that the sergeant had been experiencing medical challenges since last year after suffering a stroke. Since then, she had required repeated medical attention and was reportedly in and out of treatment while attempting to recover.
Her condition later deteriorated after she began having seizures. She was subsequently admitted to the Spanish Town Hospital, where she later passed away.
Sergeant Golding was assigned to duties at the station’s cell block and was regarded by colleagues as a committed member of the team.
Senior Superintendent of Police Hopton Nicholson, head of the St Catherine North Division, expressed sadness at the loss, noting that her passing has had a significant impact on the division.
He described Golding as a disciplined and dedicated officer who made meaningful contributions to the station and the wider division.
Nicholson also extended condolences to her colleagues and loved ones, stating that she will be fondly remembered by members of the force.
