St Catherine Man Killed in Early Morning Highway Collision

St Ann, Jamaica — A motor vehicle collision on the North–South Highway in the early hours of Tuesday has claimed the life of a St Catherine man and left his son injured, according to police reports.

Dead is Kenneth Johnson of Red Ground, Old Harbour. Authorities say the incident occurred about 2:20 a.m. on February 10 while he was travelling in a 2017 Toyota Axio being driven by his son.

Investigators reported that as the vehicle approached the Golden Grove area, the driver reportedly lost control, resulting in a crash along that stretch of roadway.

Johnson suffered critical injuries and was transported to the St Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His son sustained injuries in the incident.

Police say the driver has been warned for prosecution. The Ocho Rios Traffic Department is continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
