St Ann, Jamaica: Man Charged with Ex-Girlfriend’s Murder: A 51-year-old man has been charged in connection with the stabbing death of his former girlfriend, whose body was found along a dirt track in the Capture Land community of Mammee Bay, St Ann, last month.
The accused is Conross Hylton, otherwise called “Rasta” and “Spragga”, a higgler of Mammee Bay Estate.
The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Jestice Howell, otherwise called “Nooks”, a vendor of Capture Land.
According to the police, at about 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, Hylton, who allegedly shared a previous relationship with Howell, went to her home. Howell reportedly went outside to meet him, and an argument developed between the two.
Investigators allege that during the dispute, Hylton used a ratchet to stab Howell in the neck before fleeing the scene in a Toyota Hiace bus.
Residents alerted the police, who responded and found Howell lying face down in a pool of blood along a dirt track in the community. She was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The police said Hylton surrendered to investigators on Monday, June 29, at about 6:00 p.m. in the company of his attorney. Following investigations, he was arrested and formally charged with Howell’s murder.
His court date is currently being finalised.
