ST. ANN – Keano Fyffe, a 24-year-old man deported from the United States to Jamaica to face criminal charges, has been acquitted of charges related to an alleged gun attack on a businessman. Following a trial in the St. Ann Circuit Court on Wednesday,
Fyffe was found not guilty of wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony. Trials involving gun-related crimes are closed to the public.
The charges stemmed from an incident in Ocho Rios in January 2023, where a businessman reported being shot by an armed individual near his home. The businessman identified Fyffe as his attacker in a statement to the police.
Fyffe was arrested in Florida by US law enforcement and deported to Jamaica on February 12, 2023. He was taken into custody by Jamaican police upon arrival at Sangster International Airport in St. James.
Despite the acquittal in this case, Fyffe remains in custody awaiting trial for murder. He was represented by attorney-at-law Donovan Collins.
