A St Ann farmer who allegedly attacked a police officer with a machete, in Watt Town, on Sunday morning, was shot and seriously injured by the officer.
The police have not yet released the identity of the injured man.
Reports are that about 7;30am, the police responded to a emergency call in Watt Town, Gibraltar, where it was alleged that a man was threatening persons with a machete.
The police drove to the location and saw the man with the machete, and issued him a warning, but he allegedly attacked the lawmen with the weapon, and was shot.
He was transported to hospital where he was treated and admitted in serious but stable condition.
The matter is being investigated by the independent commission of investigation ‘INDECOM’.
