A 47-year-old man from Spanish Town, St Catherine, has been charged after police allegedly found a loaded firearm in his vehicle during a routine operation.
Gregory Ferguson, also known as “Ruff,” a self-employed resident of 14 Duncan’s Pen Road, now faces charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
The charges stem from an incident on February 16, when law enforcement officers intercepted a Nissan Tiida motor car driven by Ferguson around 12:45 p.m. During a search of the vehicle, police reportedly discovered a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol concealed inside the driver’s door, along with a magazine containing six rounds of ammunition.
Ferguson was immediately taken into custody and later questioned in the presence of his legal representative on Saturday. Authorities have confirmed that arrangements are currently being made for his court appearance.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
