St Catherine, Jamaica (McKoy’s News)- Spanish Town Hospital Will Soon Be Type A: Dr. Christopher Tufton , Minister of Health, has signed a contract with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), aiming to upgrade the Spanish Town Hospital from a Type B to a Type A hospital.
Type B hospitals provide primary and secondary healthcare services. These services include General Surgery, General Medicine, In-patient and Out-patient services and Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as pediatrics and anesthetics. Type A hospitals provide both Secondary and Tertiary services, and are final referral points.
Needless to say all residents and patients are looking forward to this being implemented.
