St Andrew, Jamaica (McKoy’s News)- Inmate Shot And Killed After Trying To Escape: A prisoner was shot and killed , after he reportedly tried to escape custody, while on a medical visit to the National Chest Hospital in St Andrew yesterday, Thursday, November 16.
The Indepentent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is investigating the situation.
The reports indicate that the deceased prisoner was serving a life sentence at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Center.
Reports by the police also indicate that the prisoner was being treated by a doctor, who asked that the officer remove the handcuffs. However, after the handcuffs were removed, the inmate tried to escape and was shot by a correctional officer.
