Hanover, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) — A woman was brutally gunned down on Tuesday night in full view of bystanders at a busy jerk stall in Green Island, Hanover.
The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Teresa Noisha Bailey, a soup vendor from the York Hill community.
Reports are that around 8:55 PM on Tuesday, July 29, Bailey was seated near her father’s jerk stall, where she operated a soup pot — a location she had worked at for several years.
Eyewitnesses say two men on a motorcycle rode up and parked a short distance away, near a nearby gas station. One of the men dismounted and approached Bailey, who remained seated. After a brief verbal exchange, the man brandished a firearm and opened fire, hitting her multiple times in the head and upper body.
Sources indicate that the gun jammed twice during the attack, but the shooter cleared it and continued firing.
The gunman then ran back to the waiting motorcycle, where he and his accomplice fled the scene in the direction of Kingsvale.
Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators processed the location and recovered:
- Three (3) 9mm spent casings
- Two (2) live 9mm rounds
No arrests have been made, and the Green Island Police are continuing their investigation.
