The son of veteran U.S. filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner has been arrested following the discovery of the couple’s bodies at their Los Angeles residence.
Law enforcement sources say Nick Reiner, the adult son of the couple, was taken into custody after investigators linked him to the deaths. The renowned director and his wife were found stabbed to death inside their Brentwood home on Sunday afternoon, prompting a homicide investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division.
Emergency crews were called to the residence after a medical emergency was reported. Upon arrival, first responders discovered both victims with fatal injuries. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not publicly disclosed a motive but confirmed that Nick Reiner was arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held on multi-million-dollar bail as the investigation continues.
Rob Reiner, a Hollywood icon, was best known for directing classic films such as The Princess Bride, Stand by Me, When Harry Met Sally…, and This Is Spinal Tap. He also rose to fame as an actor on the hit television series All in the Family.
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
