ST MARY, Jamaica — Six individuals were arrested during a large-scale early morning police operation on Thursday, targeting several communities in the parish of St Mary.
The coordinated sweep was carried out across Albion Mountain, Bailey’s Vale, Oxford, Trinity, Page Beach, and Frontier by a joint team involving multiple police and military units.
Among those taken into custody were three men wanted on outstanding warrants for breaches of the Road Traffic Act. They have been identified as:
-
Omar Duncan, 43-year-old bus driver of Trinity Land
-
Clyde Mcgreggor, 42-year-old self-employed man of Bailey’s Vale
-
Craig Johnson, 40-year-old driver of Frontier
Two 23-year-olds were also arrested in connection with violent crimes. Chevaughn Linton, a labourer from Carron Hall, and Oshawn Crosdale, a farmer from Islington, were both taken into custody on charges of wounding with intent and causing grievous bodily harm.
In a separate incident, Courtney Brown, a 24-year-old mason from Frontier Heights, Port Maria, was arrested and charged with possession of identity information, a serious cyber-related offence.
The extensive operation involved personnel from the Area Two Fugitive Apprehension Team (AFAT), the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (CTOC), the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB), the Canine Division, the Specialised Operations Unit, and the Firearm and Narcotics Investigation Division, along with support from the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF).
Police reported that 21 other individuals were detained during the operation but were later released after preliminary investigations.
Authorities have indicated that these operations form part of an ongoing crackdown on fugitives, violent offenders, and cybercrime suspects in the parish. Investigations are continuing.
