Four people were injured during a shooting incident at a popular bar on Beckford Street in Savanna-La-Mar, Westmoreland on Valentine’s Day.
The incident unfolded shortly after 10:00 pm, according to the police’s Corporate Communications Unit. Among the injured are two women who reside in Savanna-La-Mar, adding to the distressing toll of violence in the area.
This recent shooting marks the second such occurrence in the vicinity within a matter of weeks. Just three weeks ago, five patrons at a nearby party fell victim to a similar act of gun violence.
According to reports from law enforcement, the victims were attending a party when a motorcycle carrying two individuals approached from Beckford Street and came to a halt nearby. Without warning, the assailants brandished firearms and opened fire indiscriminately at the gathered crowd. Police have indicated that the motive behind the attack is believed to be gang-related.
The community is once again left reeling from the senseless violence, as residents grapple with the recurring threat to their safety and well-being. Authorities are expected to provide further updates as the investigation into the incident progresses.
