Shaggy and Lila Ike Set to Light Up Ocho Rios for Children’s Health

Ocho Rios, St Ann — Grammy Award-winning artiste Shaggy has been announced as the headliner for the Issa Trust Foundation’s For The Children benefit concert, set for May 17, 2025, at Couples Sans Souci in Ocho Rios, St Ann.

The event, which marks the 20th anniversary of the Issa Trust Foundation—the charitable arm of Couples Resorts—aims to raise funds for the construction of the Mary Issa Paediatric and Adolescent Health Centre in Ocho Rios.

Joining Shaggy on stage will be fast-rising reggae singer Lila Ike, promising an electrifying evening of music, philanthropy, and fine dining.

“This will be an all-VIP event… an intimate, open-air concert under the stars,” said John Dacosta of CYNDICATO, the production team behind the event.

Patrons can expect world-class performances, gourmet cuisine by renowned chefs Stefan Spath and Jacqui Tyson, premium wines, handcrafted cocktails, and exclusive pre-show experiences such as a V-VIP cocktail beach party and a VIP cocktail hour.

Since 2005, the Issa Trust Foundation has provided over $41 million in medical donations and spearheaded sustainable paediatric healthcare initiatives in Jamaica. Past benefit concerts have featured stars like Michael Bolton, Air Supply, Third World, Ky-Mani Marley, Tessanne Chin, and Tarrus Riley, helping to fund critical healthcare projects.

Diane Pollard, CEO of the Issa Trust Foundation, emphasized the concert’s mission to transform paediatric healthcare in Jamaica.

“The Issa Trust Foundation is committed to ensuring that every child has access to quality medical care, regardless of their circumstances,” she said.

The 9,000-square-foot Mary Issa Paediatric and Adolescent Health Centre is designed to fill a major healthcare gap in St Ann and St Mary. It will offer:

✔ Primary and preventative care

✔ Specialty clinics in cardiology, nephrology, oncology, and mental health

✔ Free vision screening and hearing tests

✔ Social support services for a holistic approach to children’s healthcare

With 70% of construction completed, the foundation aims to raise US$500,000 through this event to support the centre’s final phase and operational costs.

Pollard urged corporate sponsors, donors, and patrons to support the cause, stating, “By attending this concert, guests will become a part of a meaningful mission—ensuring that children in Jamaica receive the medical care they deserve.”

The Issa Trust Foundation is actively seeking sponsors for the event, offering various sponsorship tiers for corporate and individual donors. Tickets and donation opportunities will be available through the foundation’s official channels.
