Seattle, Washington (McKoy’s News) – U.S. sprint sensation Sha’Carri Richardson found herself behind bars last weekend after a reported domestic dispute with her boyfriend and fellow sprinter Christian Coleman at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
The incident occurred on Saturday, July 27, just as Richardson was participating in the 2025 U.S. Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
According to reports, surveillance footage captured the 25-year-old athlete allegedly pushing Coleman into a pillar during an argument at a TSA checkpoint. It’s also reported that Richardson threw a pair of headphones at him and repeatedly blocked his path as he attempted to walk away.
Authorities were called, and Richardson was arrested and charged with fourth-degree domestic violence assault. She was booked into the SCORE jail in Des Moines, Washington, where she spent approximately 19 hours before being released the following day.
Despite the physical nature of the altercation, Coleman reportedly declined to cooperate with investigators and did not press charges. Police, however, stated that bodycam footage and airport surveillance supported the arrest.
Richardson had just clocked 11.07 seconds in her 100m heat in Oregon prior to the incident. She later withdrew from both the 100m and 200m events, though as the reigning world champion, she holds an automatic qualification for the upcoming World Athletics Championships.
So far, neither Richardson nor Coleman has made a public statement regarding the incident.
The arrest has since stirred mixed reactions online, with fans and critics weighing in on her conduct and mental state.
