St. Mary, Jamaica – The St Mary Police Division has dealt a major blow to lottery scammers operating in the parish, with seven persons arrested in just one week for possession of identity information.
The arrests form part of an ongoing anti-scamming operation led by detectives from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) targeting organized criminal networks believed to be fueling the illicit trade.
According to law enforcement sources, the individuals were taken into custody during a series of targeted raids across the parish, aimed at dismantling scam cells that prey on the vulnerable—both locally and overseas.
Police say more operations are planned in the coming days as investigations continue.
They’re urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
Authorities are warning that possession of identity information with intent to commit fraud is a serious offence, and the JCF remains committed to rooting out scammers from communities across Jamaica.
