Relatives of 20-year-old D’Jonnay Graham gathered at the Home Circuit Court in Kingston on Friday, expecting to hear the sentence of Police Constable Patrick Walters, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with her death.
However, the family will have to wait longer for closure after the sentencing was postponed. Walters is now scheduled to be sentenced on October 2 at noon.
Walters had been due to receive his sentence after pleading guilty to manslaughter and using a firearm to commit a felony in relation to Graham’s shooting death.
Graham was fatally shot at her home in Richmond, St Mary, on June 25, 2025, during a dispute with Walters, who was her boyfriend at the time.
She was rushed to the Port Maria Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Walters was initially charged with murder but, when he appeared in the St Mary Circuit Court in July, he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.
He also admitted to using a firearm to commit a felony.
