Jamaica Crime News, Montego Bay: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Anthony Castelle, who was convicted of wounding a pregnant woman in Montego Bay in January 2016, was ordered by presiding Judge Natalie Hart-Hines in the St James Parish Court on Friday, December 14 , to pay the fine of $1 million or spend 30 days in prison.
He was convicted on November 23, as a result of a shooting incident which occurred on January 22, 2016, in which a pregnant woman, Janice Hines, was shot.
Reports are that, the police were carrying out regular traffic duties in Montego Bay when they signaled a taxi to stop, the driver reportedly refused to comply and sped off.
The police chased the car along the Mt Salem Main Road and fired shots at the vehicle. Hines who was seated in the back seat was shot and injured.
She was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where she was admitted.
