Members of a joint police/military team are combining sections of Gulf in Norwood, St James, in search of a wanted man, who reportedly opened fire at a police party earlier this week.
The police has identified the accused as Howard Webster, who they say is being sought in connection with the murder of another man in Norwood community, earlier this month.
Reports are that shortly after 11:00am, on Tuesday, the police carried out an operation in the area in search of Webster, who is fingered in the murder of a man within the Zone of Special Operations space.
On seeing the lawmen approaching, Webster reported brandished a handgun and fired several shots at the officers who were forced to take cover.
Webster managed to escape in bushes before the police could return the fire, and is presently still on the run.
Luckily none of the officers were injured, but the police has indicated that he is now being sought for murder and shooting.
