Jamaica Crime News, Montego Bay: Minister of National Security, Hon Dr Horace Chang, have reported that Jamaica has now developed a huge culture of violence.

According to the Security Minister, the country has now been developed into a bitterly cross society, coming from a rural background.

Minister Chang who was speaking at the Lay Magistrates Association of Jamaica annual General Meeting, which was held in the parish of Hanover on Saturday, October 20,Β  told the keen listeners that in days gone by our culture was to go to church, visit our neighbours, and sleep with our doors and windows open.

He also added that, “whenever there was a single murder it made the national news, but Jamaica has now evolved, and we now have a grown challenge where parents are beating children almost to death,Β  sons are killing fathers, persons murdering babies and boyfriend killing girlfriends, and wives.

It has become a normΒ and it is almost like a culture we now accept. We have now evolved into a country where we have 1600 homicides last year, and we now stands as the fourth most murderous country in the world.” stated the Security Minister.
