Kingston, Jamaica — Police have charged a 23-year-old security guard after he was allegedly caught with an imitation firearm during a traffic stop in Kingston on Sunday.
The accused, Tajay Nelson, has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.
Reports from the Denham Town Police indicate that around 3:45 p.m., officers were conducting routine checks when they signalled a Toyota Probox motor car to stop at the intersection of Maxfield Avenue and Spanish Town Road.
The driver complied, and all passengers exited the vehicle.
During the checks, officers reportedly noticed a bulge in Nelson’s waistband and requested to search him.
Police say Nelson cooperated, and a search uncovered an imitation firearm tucked in his waistband.
He was taken into custody on the scene and later formally charged. His court date is being finalised.
