Investigators have stepped up efforts to locate missing policeman Sylvester Reid following the discovery of a vehicle linked to him in St Catherine on Wednesday.
The car was found along Old Harbour Road in Spanish Town by a police team assigned to patrol duties. Officers attached to the Operation Support Team reportedly came upon a grey Nissan Tiida Latio parked along the roadway with all doors and windows secured.
Checks were conducted at the scene, and a locksmith was later called in to assist in gaining access to the vehicle. Upon entry, investigators reportedly observed what appeared to be bloodstains on the interior of the driver’s door, along with a bag containing clothing.
Further inquiries confirmed that the motor car had been in the possession of Detective Corporal Reid, who is attached to the Clarendon Division and is currently on interdiction.
Reid was last seen around 8:00 p.m. on April 14 at his home in Evans Heights, May Pen, Clarendon. His disappearance has since prompted an ongoing missing persons investigation.
Following the latest development, the Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch has launched a probe into the circumstances surrounding the find, as authorities continue their search for the missing officer.
