Westmoreland police have arrested and charged a man in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm at Bird Mountain Square, Westmoreland, around midnight on Tuesday.
The man has been identified as 24-year-old Santino Smith, also known as ‘Santino’, from Williamfield, Westmoreland.
According to reports, a police patrol team received information about an illegal gathering at a premises in Bird Mountain Square. Upon arrival, they observed a man near the premises where music was playing, behaving suspiciously.
The man was seen removing an object from his waist. Police approached and apprehended him.
The object, a Black Burser Thunder 9mm semi-automatic pistol with a magazine containing eight live 9mm rounds, was recovered from the ground.
