A Russian man charged in connection with a deadly crash along the Palisadoes main road in Kingston has had his bail extended until June 24, 2025.
Alexey Zaytsev is facing four charges of causing death by dangerous driving following a tragic incident on December 11, 2022. The crash claimed the lives of four individuals: 54-year-old Rose Roberts-Banton, 18-year-old Zachery Heslop, and 53-year-olds Delroy Grant and Camille Grant.
The matter was brought before the Home Circuit Court on Tuesday, where it was revealed that the prosecution is still awaiting documentation from the Attorney General’s Office, causing further delay in the proceedings.
The charges stem from a fatal collision between a vehicle allegedly driven by Zaytsev and a taxi carrying the victims, all of whom were residents of Seaview Gardens in St. Andrew. Investigators reported that the impact was severe, resulting in fatal injuries to all four passengers.
Following a thorough investigation, Zaytsev was taken into custody and formally charged. His next court appearance is scheduled for late June as legal proceedings continue.
