Jamaica Crime News, Montego Bay: An armed man who attempted to carry out a robbery at a Service Station in Montego Bay, St James, was shot and killed after he reportedly attacked a security guard on the premises on Thursday morning, January 24.
The police have reported that the identity of the deceased robber is not yet known.
Reports by the police are that about 4:00 a.m. on Thursday morning, January 24, security officers attached to Hawkeye security company responded to a report of men seen at the rear of the service station.
A security team rushed to the location and upon arrival, they saw three men at the rear of the building attempting to break inside.
On seeing the security team, one of the men brandished a homemade handgun and pointed it at the security officers.
The officers took evasive actions and opened fire, hitting the armed robber multiple times.
The other men managed to escape, while the police were summoned to the scene. Upon their arrival, the illegal firearm was handed over to them and they transported the wounded robber to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
