A man is currently in police custody following a road rage incident involving a nurse on the Mount Airy main road in St Andrew on Tuesday evening. Authorities have launched an investigation into the altercation, which occurred shortly after 7 p.m.
Residents of the typically quiet farming community have expressed shock and concern after videos of the incident went viral on social media. Both individuals involved are reportedly known in the area.
According to a senior officer, the St Andrew North Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) has commenced a probe following a formal report. Eyewitnesses, including motorists and community members, reportedly saw what transpired before and after the widely circulated footage.
In one video, a man is seen physically confronting a woman dressed in what appears to be a nurse’s uniform. “He took her out [of the] car and him start manhandle her,” said one witness, adding that the nurse was on her way to work at the time.
The situation escalated further when an object resembling a firearm fell to the ground. According to an eyewitness, someone picked up the object and returned it to the man.
