NEW YORK CITY — Global superstar Rihanna is expecting her third child with rapper and longtime partner A$AP Rocky, the couple confirmed at the 2025 Met Gala Monday night in New York City.
The news broke during red carpet interviews when A$AP Rocky, who is serving as a co-chair for this year’s gala, confirmed to reporters that the couple was adding another member to their growing family.
“It feels amazing, you know,” he said. “It’s time that we show the people what we was cooking up, and I’m glad everybody’s happy for us, ‘cause we definitely happy.”
Rihanna made a grand entrance later in the evening, turning heads with her pin-striped pregnancy reveal ensemble, styled perfectly for this year’s Met Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Her outfit featured a bolero jacket, structured bodice, and maxi skirt with dramatic button detailing, paired with a kerchief necktie, black-and-white heels, and a wide-brimmed hat. Her growing baby bump was clearly visible, putting pregnancy rumors to rest.
Earlier in the day, speculation swirled after paparazzi spotted Rihanna entering the Carlyle Hotel in a fitted skirt set, partially concealing her belly beneath a fur coat.
This will be the couple’s third child, following the births of son RZA in May 2022 and son Riot in August 2023.
In previous interviews, Rihanna has spoken lovingly about motherhood. In a 2024 Interview Magazine feature, she described parenting as “the best thing that ever happened” and praised A$AP Rocky’s support.
“When someone sees you completely, and believes in you, and thinks you’re worthy of being the mother of their kids, it’s a great feeling,” she said.
During a February 2025 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Rihanna gave fans a rare glimpse into life with her sons.
“RZA is just an empath… He loves music. He loves melody. He loves water. Bath time, swimming, pool, beach, anything,” she said. “And Riot, he’s just hilarious… He’s my alarm in the morning!”
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky first met in 2012 and began dating in 2019. Their growing family has quickly become one of pop culture’s most beloved.
The couple’s Met Gala appearance was one of the evening’s most anticipated moments. The annual event, chaired by Anna Wintour, serves as a benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute and is known as fashion’s biggest night. This year’s dress code, “Tailored for You,” took inspiration from Black sartorial excellence, influenced by Monica L. Miller’s seminal book Slaves to Fashion.
Congratulations have poured in from fans and celebrities across the globe, celebrating yet another milestone for the music, fashion, and beauty icon.
