The Middle East remains on edge following statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicating there are “growing signs” that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, may have been killed during recent coordinated strikes carried out by the United States and Israel.
Netanyahu’s remarks follow reports of extensive damage to a compound in Tehran linked to Khamenei. While unconfirmed reports circulating in Israel and the United States have suggested the Iranian leader was killed, there has been no official confirmation from Iranian authorities.
The U.S. and Israel have launched multiple attacks across Iran in recent days. Israeli officials stated that several senior figures associated with the Iranian government were eliminated during the operations.
According to the Iranian Red Crescent Society, at least 201 people have been killed as a result of the strikes, while 747 others have been injured.
Iran has since responded with retaliatory actions across parts of the Middle East. Apparent Iranian strikes have been reported in Dubai, Doha, Bahrain, and Kuwait — territories that either host United States military bases or maintain close ties with Washington.
The situation remains fluid as military exchanges continue and regional security concerns intensify.
