Westmoreland, Jamaica – A probe is underway into the tragic deaths of two children who perished in a fire at their home in Culloden, Westmoreland, last night.
The deceased have been identified as eight-year-old Jamar Reid and eight-year-old Romain Powell, both students at New Hope Primary School.
According to police reports, the children’s burnt remains were discovered around 12:10 a.m. on Thursday, after a fire completely destroyed their three-bedroom house.
It is unclear at this stage how the fire started, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the blaze. Firefighters were called to the scene and managed to extinguish the flames, but the house was already reduced to rubble by the time they arrived.
Family members and neighbors are in shock, with many expressing disbelief at the devastating loss. Authorities are working to gather more information, and the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
