The Hanover police have arrested and charged a popular taxi driver with rape and other sexual offenses.
He has been identified as 36-year-old Mervin Jarrett, also known as ‘Kids Meal,’ a taxi and tour bus operator from New Mills district, Haddington, Hanover.
According to police reports, on Sunday, March 10, Jarrett picked up a woman at a bus stop in the parish, allegedly drove her to his house, and held her at gunpoint.
He then purportedly sexually assaulted her before she managed to escape to a neighbor’s house and raise an alarm.
Following an investigation, Jarrett was charged with rape, abduction, assault at common law, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
The police noted that this is not the first time Jarrett has been implicated in rape and firearm incidents. He has previously served time behind bars for similar offenses.
