Spanish Town, St Catherine – A police operation in Shelter Rock early Friday morning ended in the fatal shooting of an unidentified man and the seizure of an illegal firearm, authorities have confirmed.
According to the police, around 6:20 a.m., officers were conducting an operation when they were challenged by a man armed with a nine-millimetre pistol. The firearm reportedly had a magazine containing four rounds of ammunition.
Police say they took evasive action and fired, injuring the suspect, who was rushed to Spanish Town Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched a probe into the incident. Authorities emphasized that the matter remains under investigation.
