Jamaica Crime News, St Andrew: Detectives attached to the Half Way Tree Police CIB Department in St Andrew, say they are now calling on members of the public for their assistance, to identify the men behind the shooting death of a popular businesswoman in the parish on Friday.
The dead woman has been identified as, Russell Anglin, 29-year-old shop operator of a Kingston address.
Reports are that about 2:30 p.m., Anglin was at her place of business in the vicinity of the University Hospital of the West Indies, when a group of men travelling in a motor vehicle drove up.
One of the men alighted from the car and walked over to Anglin who was standing outside her shop.
The man brandished a handgun and pointed it to the head of the female businesswoman. He then fired several shots, hitting her in the regions of her head.
As shoppers and commuters scampered in fear of their lives, the gunman walked back to the vehicle which sped away. The police were summoned and upon arrival, the wounded female was rushed to the nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The police say they are now asking anyone with information that could assist in apprehending the shooter and his cronies, to immediately contact the Half Way Tree Police Station, Police Control 119 or the nearest police station.
