Police Officer Killed by Mentally Ill Man

A police officer assigned to the Linstead Police Station in St Catherine died this morning (September 24), after a mentally challenged man hit him in the head. The mentally challenged man was later killed.

The Deceased has been identified as detective constable, Paul Gordon, who worked at Linstead Police Station.

The officer, who was not wearing his uniform, was attacked while walking along the sidewalk near the Linstead Transportation Center.

According to sources, Alwayne Shakespeare, also known as Al, his 25-year-old killer, had a long history of carrying out horrific attacks on unsuspecting victims in Linstead. A few months ago, his family members went public and made an appeal for the authorities to help them get him off the streets.

The mentally ill man was allegedly shot dead by police after the incident.
