ST ANDREW, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) — A police constable believed to be at the center of an illegal firearms trafficking operation was arrested early Tuesday morning during a high-stakes operation in Florence Hill, St Andrew.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) High Command confirmed the arrest in an official statement, describing the operation as “targeted and intelligence-driven.”
During the sting, two prohibited firearms were reportedly seized, as authorities continue to crack down on the illicit gun trade plaguing communities across the island.
The arrest forms part of a wider, ongoing investigation into the illegal distribution of firearms — a growing concern for law enforcement.
In a hard-hitting statement, the JCF High Command said:
“Members of the JCF are entrusted with extraordinary powers and public confidence. Any breach of that trust, especially involving criminal conduct, will be met with swift and uncompromising consequences. There is no place in this organisation for individuals who seek to use their position to subvert the law.”
This latest development is being hailed as a major step in the force’s offensive against corruption and gun crimes, which have continued to endanger lives across Jamaica.
The High Command reiterated its zero-tolerance stance toward corruption within its ranks, regardless of rank or affiliation, and vowed that further updates would be shared as the probe progresses.
