PNP MP Damian Crawford No Longer Serving on PAAC

Member of Parliament for North West St. Catherine, Damian Crawford of the People’s National Party (PNP), is no longer serving on Parliament’s Public Administration and Appropriations Committee (PAAC) following a motion approved in the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

The motion was introduced by Leader of Government Business Floyd Green and passed without objection. Dr. Alfred Dawes, Opposition MP for South East St. Catherine, has been appointed to fill the vacancy on the committee.

No official reason was given in the House for Crawford’s removal from the PAAC. However, parliamentary sources indicate the change was voluntary. Efforts to reach Crawford for comment after the sitting were unsuccessful.

There has been talk within parliamentary circles of tension between Crawford and PAAC Chairman Peter Bunting. During a recent committee session, Crawford openly expressed dissatisfaction with the chairman responding to questions he had directed to public officials appearing before the committee.

The development also sparked a brief disruption inside Gordon House, where government MPs reacted noisily to the reported rift, prompting Speaker of the House Juliet Holness to intervene and restore order.

The committee change took effect immediately following the passage of the motion.
