PNP Leader Mark Golding Mourns Passing of Mother, Lady Patricia Golding

Mark Golding, president of the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP), is mourning the loss of his mother, Lady Patricia Golding, who passed away at the age of 92. Golding announced her passing on Friday morning through a heartfelt message shared on social media platform X.

“Walk Good Mum. You will forever live on in our hearts and in our memories. We miss and love you,” Golding wrote, expressing his profound grief.

Following the news, tributes poured in from across the country, with many offering condolences to the Opposition leader and his family. Among those paying their respects was Prime Minister Andrew Holness, who expressed sympathy on behalf of the nation.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Jamaica, I extend heartfelt condolences to Mr. Mark Golding and his family on the passing of his beloved mother, Lady Patricia Golding. May her soul rest in peace,” Holness said in a statement.

Lady Patricia Golding, born in England on December 24, 1931, had deep roots in Jamaica. Raised in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, and later in Kingston and St Andrew, she attended St Andrew High School before pursuing a degree in sociology at a university in England.

Her professional journey began in 1953 when she joined the Colonial Secretariat as an administrative cadet. She later worked for the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Central Planning Unit. In 1961, she married renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr. John Golding, with whom she shared a lasting partnership.

Her passing has left a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her legacy will continue to resonate through her family and the many lives she touched during her long and distinguished life.
